Bison-New Mexico in weather delay before key MWC game

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — After weather looked ominous in the area surrounding University Stadium on Saturday, reality finally hit at 7:25 p.m. MT. The North Dakota State at New Mexico football game is currently under a mandatory 30-minute weather delay because of lightning. The game was originally scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. local time. It had already been pushed back 15 minutes because of television. The stadium was to be re-opened at 7:56 p.m. provided no further lightning strikes. About half of NDSU's players were going through pregame warmups when both teams were ordered back to their locker rooms. "This is something we addressed with the team to remember Indiana State last year," said NDSU head coach Tim Polasek, before heading back to the locker room. NDSU and Indiana State had a weather delay during their game last year at Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute, Ind., that lasted 2 hours, 15 minutes. Over 30,000 fans were expected for the key Mountain West Confe
