Noted Minnesota author to give presentation Tuesday in Thief River Falls

GRAND FORKS — A noted Minnesota author, Will Weaver will present a special program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Eagles Club, 305 Red Lake Boulevard, Thief River Falls. Sponsored by the Snorre Lodge Sons of Norway, the event is free and open to the public. Weaver, of Bemidji, writes immigrant stories, among others, and has strong connections to Norway, said Jan Strandlie, who helped organize the event. Weaver s great-grandparents, who emigrated from Norway in 1906, settled in the Turtle Mountain region in northeastern North Dakota. Those who attend the presentation likely will enjoy Weaver s casual, down-to-earth attitude; his subtle humor and appreciation for his Norwegian immigrant background. His latest book, Black Dirt, Bright Stars, is an example, Strandlie said. It is the second in a two-book saga that began with Power and Light, the story of an immigrant family that came to America with dreams of owning land and building a better life. Weav
